How do booking fees work?

Created by Ticketing Support, Modified on Mon, 26 Oct at 2:55 AM by Ticketing Support

A booking fee is added to each ticket on top of your ticket price. You set it for each ticket tier. We show a recommended amount that covers your fees, and you can change it however you like.

Set a booking fee

  1. Click Events, click your event's name, then click Tickets.
  2. Click the tier's name, or Add Ticket Tier for a new one.
  3. Enter the Ticket Price.
  4. Look under Booking Fee for the recommended amount, for example "Recommended: 3".
  5. Enter that amount, or your own, in Booking Fee.
  6. Click Save, or Add Ticket Tier for a new tier.

Your choices

  • Pass the fees on: use the recommended booking fee. Buyers cover the fees and you keep your full ticket price.
  • Absorb the fees: set the booking fee to $0. The fees come out of your ticket price.
  • Set your own: enter any amount that suits your event.

What buyers see

With Show booking fee turned on, buyers see the ticket price and booking fee separately, for example "A$30 + A$3 BF" on your event page and "A$30 + A$3 booking fee" when they choose tickets. It's on by default. Find it in your event's Details step under Advanced Settings.

Notes

  • How the recommendation is worked out: your Pulse platform fee, plus an estimate of Stripe's card fee, rounded up to the nearest dollar. Stripe can't confirm its exact fee until after each payment, so rounding up helps cover international cards and other card surcharges.
  • Set booking fees on add-ons too, if you charge them. No recommendation is shown for add-ons, so use the same approach as your tickets.
  • Your rate is agreed when your account is set up. Contact us if you'd like to talk about it.
